Oregon, My Oregon

Land of the Empire Builders, Land of the Golden West (first line of the Oregon State Song) ...yeah, the third grade was responsible for singing the first verse of the Oregon State Song at our school's 150 year's old Oregon birthday party last year and unfortunately is has stuck in my head forever. Although I am all for celebrating the beautiful state we live in, the state song is not one that sounds good being sung by a bunch of eight year olds, or really by anyone, in my opinion. On another, semi-related note Steven and I took Sophia for a walk last weekend all around the capital. It is a beautiful place to walk around and there are lots of statues, flags, memorials, and squirrels to see. Here are some pictures from our walk...
