1!

On March 1st, my sweet Ava Lea turned one year old! We spent the morning relaxing at home and then after the girls naps we went with Noni and Papi to The Gilbert House, had dinner at Applebee's, followed by cupcakes at home. It was a great mellow day to celebrate our sweet girl. We also had a joint birthday party for Ava and Sophia last weekend but that will be a separate post.
Here's Ava exploring at The Gilbert House
Daddy and his baby girl
Me and my love
Little baby, big chair!

Happy big sis!
Most likely watching Sophia:)
Banging on the table- so much fun!
Opening presents, she mainly just wanted to eat the tissue paper. We got her a My Pal Violet singing doggy, she loves it. Sophia got her a shape sorter. She got diapers, food, and a few fun toys from Noni and Papi.

She loves her new stacker.
This was the face she made when we were singing to her. She loved it!
She had a mini cupcake, she ate it in less then 3 minutes and then was licking the frosting off of her bib. We're pretty sure she has a sweet tooth!

Lashes for days!
Sweet girl at her 1 year check up.

We are so lucky to have Ava as a member of our family. We love her so much. Here are some random updates about our girl:

One year check up: She was 29 inches long and 21 pounds, 12 ounces. She checked out healthy and had to get four shots. We have to get more blood work to check her red blood cells and alpha thallasemia and as long as that comes back consistent with her previous bloodwork then she won't need to do it again for a year! We're planning on taking her this weekend to get it done, she is a lot stronger and really doesn't like it so Steven and I prefer to be able to take her together and we know our favorite blood guy works on Saturdays (you know you've had a lot of blood taken from your baby when you A: have a favorite blood guy and B: you know his work schedule.)

Food: Ava has her two bottom middle teeth and is getting her two front teeth in currently. She still loves purées, fruit and oatmeal, beans, rice, Greek yogurt, ritz crackers, puffs, mum-mums, yogurt melts, noodles, and pancakes. She loves milk and still takes a bottle before naps and bed. She is getting better at using a sippy cup, but still prefers someone to hold it for her:) )

Play: she loves her Little People toys, her music table, push toys, and anything her big sister is doing. She is good about playing independently and keeping herself happy and entertained.

Walking: she has taken 3 steps by herself and will walk along the furniture and walls, pretty soon she'll be running around the house. She loves to chase and be chased around the ottoman with Sophia.

Sleep: she still inconsistently sleeps through the night, it is better than it used to be but still is up more nights then she isn't. Oh, well- we try to appreciate the middle of the night cuddles, she won't be a baby forever:)

Personality: Ava is pretty mellow, she doesn't get very fussy unless she is hungry or it's the middle of the night and she can't sleep. She is very sweet and silly. Anytime she is doing something she's not supposed to and you tell her no she turns towards you and gives you the cheesiest scrunched up smiley face. It is funny and hard to ever be mad at her when she gives you that face. When I rock her and pat her back she always pats my shoulder, it is so sweet. She loves to gives kisses, they are often open mouthed and she'll try and slip you the tongue. She says mama, dada, hi, and bye bye. She waves with her whole hand twisting her wrist like a princess. She loves to babble and talk. Whenever she is in the backseat with Sophia she'll put her hand out to hold her sissy's hand.  She loves to dance and finds music in all sounds she hears, I was using the hand mixer the other day and she started dancing to the sounds it was making. She is such a kick. She is more wild then her sister was at this age, but she is happy 99% of the time.

We love her so much, she's just perfect for our little family. I can't believe she is already one, we are so enjoying watching her personality evolve.
