A Sophia Update- 3 and a Half

On September 25 Sophia turned three and a half years old! Where has my baby gone and who is this big girl?

Here is an update on Sophia in bullet form:
  • Since Sophia has recovered from her surgery she is doing SO well.  She sleeps better, she eats better, and she no longer complains of her throat hurting.  It is really amazing.  Before her surgery she snored so loud we could hear her from down the hall in our room, she would wake up multiple times a night, and she would thrash all around her bed.  She also had a really hard time getting up in the morning and we would have to drag her out of bed and she would be so grouchy and cranky.  Now she sleeps so quietly (it actually scared us the first few nights), she sleeps through the night, and wakes up happy and refreshed.  It is an amazing and much needed change.  Although going through the surgery and recovery was tough it is definitely worth it at this point.
  • Sophia is quite a talker (don't know where she gets it with such quiet parents...lol).  She pretty much is always talking except for when she is sleeping.  Here are a few funny quotes/stories from Sophia lately:
    • The other day Steven took her to daycare since they would both be meeting me at the doctor after work.  As they were driving there in the morning they saw a school bus, which still excites Sophia so much.  The difference with this sighting was she actually saw kids getting onto the bus.  When she saw this she burst into tears, crying so hard.  Steven initially could not figure out what was wrong then she finally told him she was sad because she wanted to ride the bus too and could not understand why those kids got to and she didn't.
    • The other night Sophia called us to her her room after she had went to bed to ask for her water cup to be refilled.  Steven went and got her more water.  He walked into her room and said "here's your water, nice and cold", she replied "yes, but is it fresh?".  Cracked us up.
    • Yesterday I had a furlough day.  I was sitting the living room searching for nursery decor on my laptop and Sophia wakes up and comes bounding out.  She crawls up next to me and says "thanks for letting me sleep at your house last night!", as if most nights I don't let her sleep here?
  • She still loves going to school and is a great helper to Robyn with all the babies.  We think of this as excellent practice for what is to come.
  • She loves playing with her dolls the most, especially her "baby boy".  According to Sophia Baby Boy woke up with a fever today and is very sick.  She's been changing Baby's diaper, giving him medicine, and taking great care of him all morning.
  • She loves to do "school" and is getting better and better and tracing her letters and shapes and practicing her letter sounds.  We try and do a little bit of school most days with Sophia.
  • She is going to dress up as Cinderella for Halloween this year and is very excited about her light up princess costume.
  • She is so excited for her baby sister.  Yesterday she said "Momma, when's that baby coming out?" and I said "not till March, it's a long long time".  She dramatically fell to her knees and said "that's too long, I can't wait!".  Luckily, she's easy to distract so she got over her disappointment pretty quickly.
  • After our ultrasound we took her to Target and let her pick out an outfit for her baby sister.  At first she said she wanted to pick out a dress for the baby, then she paused and hesitated for a moment and said "no, I want to get her jammies so she can be sooo cozy".  She picked out a little onesie that says "baby sis" in sparkle letters and a jammie set with monkeys on the feet and an adorable bootie ruffle.  She has excellent taste!
  • Her favorite things to eat are: multigrain cheerios, bagels with cream cheese, apple slices, corndogs, chicken, beans, cheese, yogurt, suckers (are they even considered a food?), fruit snacks, crackers of all forms, chocolate, and sandwiches.  Her favorite drink is milk.
Sophia is such a joy and we really treasure every moment watching her grow up into this sweet, silly, and beautiful little girl!
