On Friday we took Sophia for her one year check up. I cannot believe we have come this far! She was very good at her appointment and the doctor and nurses said she was definitely the happiest baby of the day. She now weighs 22 lbs. 3 oz. (64%) and is 30 inches tall (75%). The doctor said she is healthy and growing just as she should. We discussed Sophia's constant puking and she said that if it is still a problem after she is fully transitioned to whole milk we may need to put her on some medicine to help with her reflux so we'll see. She also told us that if her apple allergy continues then in a few months they would do some allergy testing so we can see for sure what it is that Sophia is allergic to. Until then we will just avoid giving her anything with apples which is not hard to do. Sophia also got five shots but she was a trooper and only cried for a minute, but man she cried hard! Poor baby!
band-aids she is still one happy camper!
Also we had a bit of a scary incident on Thursday night that we talked to the doctor about. Sophia went ot bed at about 7 and then at 10:30 she was making these weird noises in her sleep like she couldn't catch her breath. It was the sound babies make after they are trying to catch their breath after crying really hard except that Sophia was doing it when she was sound asleep. When Steven tried rubbing her back to gently wake her up and get her breathing normal again she woke up and screamed and cried. It took over two hours to calm her down. She finally went to sleep and slept through the rest of the night but we sure couldn't sleep after that scare. I had not felt that worried since they had admitted her to NICU soon after she was born. We were glad to have our appointment the next day, since we would have called the doctor either way. She told us it could have been a few different things. She thought it could have been Sophia's reflux causing her pain in her sleep, it could have been a nightmare, or it could have been a night terror. Night terror's are very different from nightmares and toddlers commonly have them. She said to contact her if it happens again. So far (the last two nights) she has slept through the night no problem so that is good.
On another note, discussing Sophia's growth and milestones, yesterday Sophia took about six steps all by herself with out us initiating it! She was standing next to the couch and just decided on her own to walk over to Steven sitting in the chair. We were so proud and excited! I think she'll be walking all over soon enough!

Atleast the kiddos get cool band-aids unlike us grown ups who are lucky to get a cotton ball and some tape!
OUCH....so many boo-boos for one little Peanut! I'd have to agree with Uncle Daniel though, the band-aids are pretty cool looking.
Give lots of hugs and kisses to Sophia from Grandma Kathy!
Love you guys! <3
