Coos Bay

This last weekend we headed down to Coos Bay. Steven's friend and old roommate, Gary, was getting married on Saturday and Steven was a groomsman in his wedding. It was the longest drive Sophia had ever been on and she did great. She did not cry once and was pretty entertained playing with her toys and napping as we drove. It was nice to get away as a family and see some new sights. Below is our weekend in pictures...

On our way to Coos Bay we passed an elk refuge. There were probably a hundred elk along the road but we couldn't pull over there to take pictures. We pulled into the viewing area and there were a few elk drinking out of the creek. It was really cool to see, I have never seen elk like that before!

On Saturday morning we went out for breakfast at the hotel and once again Sophia was completely entertained by sucking on ice cubes and feeling the cold of the glass on her gums.

So cute!

Pretty girl!

Steven and I got to the location of the wedding a little early so we decided to do some exploring. We were the most dressed up people exploring the park but we saw some awesome things. The first place we went was Simpson Reef. This is a reef where hundreds of California Sea Lions and elephant seals live. It was amazing to see so many of these animals in one place. The sea lions were so loud, as the video below shows, and the elephant seals were very neat to see. Elephant seals are huge, weighing up to 2 or 3 tons! There was a volunteer outreach organization there so we got to see all the wildlife through telescopes theyprovided which was neat! After we saw the reef we drove down to the beach.

Steven and Gary were roommates years ago so Steven was honored to be a groomsman at his friend's wedding. They were married at Sunset Bay State Park in Charleston, Oregon and the weather was gorgeous and warm!

After the wedding we decided to drive down the coast and check out Bandon. Bandon was super cute, with a trendy "old town" full of fun shops and restaurants. Steven and I decided that we definitely want to go back there sometime and stay for a while. Plus the beach down there is absolutely beautiful!

Here are some pictures from a photo shoot we took of Sophia on Saturday night. She was very cute hanging out in her fleece pants and vest.

Hi Mommy!

Here are some pictures of Miss. Sophia in the morning before we left Coos Bay.

Hi!

Practicing sitting up by herself while checking out the flowers on her jeans.

Sophia is getting ready to do some office work at our hotel!

Here is where we stopped at a viewpoint between Coos Bay and Florence, it was beautiful!

Sophia was looking at her book while we were driving home and then we looked back and she had fallen asleep. She had either fallen asleep mid-play or used the book to shade her eyes from the light. Either way it was super cute!

We hope you enjoyed the pictures from our trip!

Cool pics and video! What did Sophia think of all the seal barking?

Thanks for sharing!

I don't even think Sophia really noticed the seal barking:). She mainly enjoyed the breeze on her face and watching all the people!
