After visiting Boulder we drove up into the hills towards the Rockies, the area was called Boulder Canyon and it was beautiful! We took some great pictures and ended up in this resort town called Nederland, the elevation was crazy high and we just went higher from there. Here are the pictures from that drive:

Part 2: Pictures With Great-Grandma
The main reason we went to Denver was to see Steven's Grandma. We had not seen her since she moved down there when Sophia was just a few months old so it was fun for Sophia to be able to build a relationship with her now that she is older. We had dinners with Grandma, took her shopping, and enjoyed spending time with her.

Here we are shopping at Target, she was picking out an outfit for Sophia.

Showing Sophia what she picked out for her.

At lunch on our last day!

Part 3: Columbine
Right near where Steven's aunt lives is Columbine High School, since the shooting there in 1999 they have made a powerful and moving memorial of those that died. Having remembered this tragedy (I was a senior when it happened) it was nice to see what a beautiful memorial was created.

Part 4: Our Hotel
We stayed near Grandma's apartment at an Embassy Suites Hotel. It was really nice and we enjoyed our stay there. We liked it because included in the room was a free cocktail hour and a full service cooked to order breakfast.

Part 5:
Here are a few pictures of us traveling. We were a little worried how Sophia would do on the plane since she had never flown before and she had ANOTHER ear infection right before we left but she did really well. She loved the plane ride. We definitely have a thrill seeker for a daughter. When we were taking off and landing and any time there was any turbulence she would clap and squeal with delight. When we were leaving Denver there was a lot of turbulence due to some major thunderstorms and it was really bumpy- I was just sitting there trying not to throw up and Sophia was clapping and laughing. Steven is excited to have a roller coaster buddy in a few years.

At Starbucks at the airport before we left...

On the plane...

On the bus back to the airport after dropping off our rental car- a very tired toddler:)
Part 6: Barbecue
One night while we were in Denver, Steven's Aunt Linda had us over to her house for a barbecue. We were tired after our trip to the zoo, but we had a fun time visiting and eating some yummy food.

They had two ponds in their backyard, one had turtles and the other one had koi fish. Sophia loved exploring these with Grandma Kathy!

Whee!!

Part 7: Frosty's and a Little Mermaid
Another first that happened in Denver is Steven had his first Frosty. I could not believe he had never had one, especially since he loves ice cream. So anyways I had to record this momentous occasion in a few pictures:

By the way, he loved it!
One night when we were putting Sophia's jammers on she stuck her legs in the same side and it looked like she was a little mermaid; it cracked us up so, once again, I had to photograph it!!

Well, I think that covers our trip to Denver. I am so glad we went. It was great to get out of town, spend time as a family, see some new places, and spend time with Grandma Kathy and Great Grandma!
